- Follow the instructions on the "How
to un-install NetGate Webcelerate Internet Connection" page.
- If you are using Windows XP, or Windows 2000
you are probably seeing the "Autodialer" functionality
included with the OS. To configure the autodialer to not prompt
you for which connection to use do the following:
1. Open your "Network Connections Control Panel"
2. Select the "Advanced/Dial-up Preferences" menu item
3. Uncheck the "Always ask me before autodialing" option.
4. Click "OK" to finish.
- Follow the instructions on the "How
to un-install Propel Accelerator Webcelerate Edition" page.
- Click on the Propel Accelerator Webcelerate
Edition icon in the system tray and select the "Help" menu.
Or, use the on-line
reference for more information.
- Use the following settings:
Your dial-up user name is "username"@netgate.net
The settings for Propel Accelerator Webcelerate Edition are:
user: "username"@netgate.net
password: same as you use for Internet access
and mail.
News server: usenet.netgate.net
News server login: username@usenet.netgate.net
News password: same as you use for Internet access and mail.
Inbound mail server (pop server): pop.netgate.net
Outbound mail server (SMTP server): smtp.netgate.net
Mail user name: user
Note: You must enable "authenticated SMTP" for
sending mail. For example, in Outlook Express you need to do
the following:
1. Launch Outlook Express
2. Open the Tools menu
3. Select the "Accounts" menu item
4. Select the "pop.netgate.net" mail server and click
on the "Properties" button
5. Click on the "Servers" tab
6. Select the "My server requires authentication" checkbox
- Yes, you can run the Propel Webcelerate installer
to install the accelerator without the NetGate Dialer.
- Not at this time. We do expect to have this
functionality available in the near future. If you want to use
the built-in firewall you will need to set
up your connection document manually.
- The Propel Accelerator Webcelerate client will
not function unless you are connected to NetGate. If you use
your NetGate Webcelerate connection as a backup to broadband,
or as a roaming account, please see the "How to configure NetGate
Webcelerate for use with a broadband connection" answer.
- The default configuration assumes that you will be using NetGate Webcelerate as your primary connection to the Internet. As a result it configures your computers Internet options so that any time you launch an applicaiton that wants to use the Internet the NetGate Internet Connection application will launch asking if you would like to connect to the Internet. If you normally use an always on (broadband) connection and want to use your NetGate Webcelerate connection as a backup, roaming, or secondary dial-up account please follow these additional configuration steps:
- Open your "Control Panel" using the "Start" menu
- Select "Network and Internet Connections"
- Select "Internet Options"
- Click on the "Connections" tab
- Select the "Never dial a connection" radio button
- Click "OK"
To connect to the Internet using your NetGate Webcelerate account you will need to launch the application by double clicking the "NetGate" icon on your desktop.
- Yes, you can run the Propel Webcelerate installer
to install the accelerator without the NetGate Dialer.
